What Does It Really Mean To Be a Foodie?

In this article, our focus shall be in understanding the multi-faceted aspects of being a foodie. Perhaps, we should begin by understating the idea of being a foodie before we venture into understanding the benefits of being a foodie. So, let us start by the core and the crux of this piece of writing: what does it really mean to be a foodie?

Being a foodie is somewhat being a food lover, for starters, if not in the entirety of its meaning. Certainly, the love for food has to be a major factor here. But that is not it. There are other considerable aspects as well. To be a foodie, one needs to have the curiosity to understand food and cuisines with history and cultural background and perhaps see cuisines either as discourses to be understood and loved or as pieces of art to be appreciated and to be considered as objects of human birth. To be a foodie is to shed off the cultural borders and go beyond, to explore excellent food along with the culture. When we say or use the term ‘understand food’, we try to study cuisine to look into authenticity. Without authenticity, a cuisine loses its essence and hence it is no longer the best reflection of the culture and history that gave birth to it.
